A brief history of the parish : In the year 1910 a small chapel was built in honour of St. Anthony of Padua for the benefit of a few Catholic families living around Bandihatti. Those who visited this chapel felt that their prayers were heard and they experienced a few miracles. Since there was a miraculous statue of St. Anthony, the chapel gradually began to be known as St. Anthony's Shrine, Bandihatti. A new parish was carved out from St. Anthony's Cathedral in the year 2002. The new church was built under the leadership of the first parish priest, Fr. Lourdu Raj Alapaty. In January 2014, due to road extension, a portion of shrine building had to be rebuilt. The then parish priest Fr. Mariswamy and parish council members took a lot of efforts to raise the fund to re-build a portion of the church with the help of the Diocese. The restructured and renovated church was blessed by Bishop Henry D'Souza on 13June, 2014.
