A brief history of the parish
K. Mariammanahalli, a former sub-station of Mudgal parish, was made an independent parish by Bishop Ambrose P. Yeddanapalli in January 1986. The residents of K. Mariammanahalli are all Koracha tribals, rope makers by profession. Theyembraced the faith in 1926 from the Franciscan Missionaries who worked in this region of Mudgal. An open-airchurch was built by Fr. Gerald D'Souza ofm in the year 1974, which was first of its kind in the diocese. The school and boarding house were built by Fr. Cyril Joseph, who was the first resident parish priest(1986). Later, a community hall was built by Fr. Arokianathan L. The new church was constructed under the leadership of Frs. Deva Nesan and Anthony Fernandes. This was blessed by Archbishop Bernard Moras, the Apostolic Administrator and inaugurated by Fr. Gerald D'Souza ofm on 26March 2007. The grotto and the bell tower were built during the term ofFr. Ponnuswamy. The JMJ Sisters are running the Kannada Medium School and the boarding houses for boys and girls.
