There were many Catholic officers, their families and others tookup residence at Shaktinagar. So, Bishop Ambrose P. Yeddanapalliofm, carved out Shaktinagar parish from Raichur parish,with Fr. Thomas Michael as the first parish priest in the year 1984. During that time, around 4 acres of land was bought. The Church and the presbytery were constructed and donated by Mr.G.J. Fernandes in memory of his late mother.The patron of the church was Blessed Alphonsa then, now a saint. This was first church outside Kerala, dedicated to Blessed Alphonsa. To offer good Catholic education to the Catholic community, a small school was started in the year 1989-1990 with LKG and UKG simultaneously with the name 'Blessed Alphonsa English Medium School' by Fr. Thomas Michael. It was upgraded to high school in the year 1999-2000. The Bethlemites Sisters arrived in 2015 to service both in the parish and school.
