Our Lady Of Vailankanni Church
Church History
Palladam was a sub-station of the parish of Tirupur and later to the parish of Sulur. A new church was constructed and dedicated to Our Lady of Velankanni. The church was built by Fr. P. Maria Joseph and blessed by Most. Rev. M. Ambrose, on the feast day of Blessed Virgin Mary, 8th September 1995.
Palladam was born as a parish on 11th of June 2001, on the feast day of Pentecost. Fr. Gurusamy as its first Parish Priest.
On 8 September 2000, Bishop Ambrose laid the Foundation-stone for the Presbytery and blessed it on 27th May 2001, the feast day of Ascension.
The new church was consecrated on 15-09-2022.
The Catholics of this parish about 450 families are from different parts of Tamil Nadu, the majority of them are migrants from the area of Dindigul. In general, the people are very poor and not very educated, mostly working in fields, some in hosiery factories, power loom factories, and just a very few in government jobs. People live scattered from a radius of 5 to 25 Km. From time to time Holy mass is celebrated at Sub-Stations
