Amala Matha Church

Mulund Syro-Malabar Catholic Community existed and moved towards a religious community even before the establishment of Kalyan Diocese holding on to the rich culture, liturgical traditions and educational values they had received from their ancestors. The establishment of the diocese was a boost to this community giving proper direction which worked as a great factor for unifying. The priests who came in were multi-talented and also spiritually enlightened which gave this community a strong Syro-Malabar foundation. In 1989 Rev. Fr. Davis Casian was appointed as the first priest in-charge of Mulund. His efforts and sacrifices were instrumental in unifying the dispersed Syro-Malabar Catholics in the area. During the tenure of Rev. Fr. Mathew Moothassery MST, he completed the unification and formation of the centre at Mulund. He also formed the Youth Association and with the support of Diocese, purchased a place of residence for our priest and other parish support activities. Rev. Fr. James Kochayyankanal started the Mathrusangham Association in our centre. Rev. Fr. Thomas Pudussery and Rev. Fr. Mathew Kandasankunnel served as our priests and under Rev. Fr. Mathew, charismatic prayer group was created in our church. Rev. Fr. Joju Aloor took initiative for the land for our church and got a commitment of Rs. 12 lakh from our members and also started the Rosary Rally which became an annual event. Then under Rev. Fr. Jacob Porathur got a commitment of Rs. 35 lakhs from our members for the dream church. The dream of owning a centre for all parishioners became a reality under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Shibu Pulickal. He also started our Parish Bulletin ‘Amalavani’. Then at the time of Rev. Fr. Biju Kollamkunnel the boundary of our parish got completed. The big dream of a church became a reality in 2011 by hard work of Rev. Fr. Lijo Mullonkal and parishioners. We wish to acknowledge the contributions of all priests who have served us at various periods in co-ordination with parish council and all associations of our parish. They are Rev. Fr. Davis Casian, Rev. Fr. Mathew Moothassery MST, Rev. Fr. James Kochayyankanal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Pudussery, Rev. Fr. Mathew Kandasankunnel, Rev. Fr. Joju Aloor, Rev. Fr. Jacob Porathur, Rev. Fr. Shibu Pulickal, Rev. Fr. Biju Kollamkunnel and Rev. Fr. Joju Arackal. Fr. Paul Olickal took charge as the parish priest from 09th February 2017.
