Church History
Gangarampur Parish is situated adjacent to the premises of Boys' Town of West Bengal. The Boys' Town had been established in 1965 by Fr. Vanigasooriyar. From 1985 onwards no new inmates were taken and the older boys began to marry and settle down there. Later more families began to come from Kolkata and other places and began to settle down in and around that area. Till 1990 there were resident priests who took care of their spiritual needs. From 1990 Priests from different places administered to the people but irregularly. On October 12, 2000 the people's wish for a parish was fulfilled when Bishop Salvadore Lobo erected a parish and entrusted its care to the Pilar Fathers.
