Sacred Heart of Jesus Church

Mela Ilandaikulam was one of the substations of the parish of Kayathar. It is 5 km away from Kayathar. People of this village are very much attached to the church. Their faith is very strong. Day by day catholic population also increased. Diocese has established a High School, which was later on upgraded as Higher Secondary School. Due to this school, people were well educated. It was felt that it was not enough to develop people educationally but also to improve them spiritually. For this purpose, it was decided to establish Mela Ilanthaikulam as a separate parish. Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj issued the order of erecting a new parish on 30th May 2003. Fr. Charles was the first parish priest of Mela Ilandaikulam. The Succession of the Priests 1. Rev. Fr.
