St. Jude’s Shrine

Rev. Fr. Eusebius of the Capuchin Order was appointed as the care taker priest of the newly marked parish of St. Jude, Millerpuram on 26th March 1976. With the generous contribution of the people of Thoothukkudi and with the votive offerings of bricks carried and given by the people, a spacious Church was built. It was blessed on 3rd November 1975 by Bishop Ambrose Mathalaimuthu. In the beginning 20 villages were given to be taken care of by the Capuchins. On 27th December 1992 the parish of St. Jude was canonically erected by Bishop S.T. Amalnather and was entrusted to the Capuchins. Rev. Fr. Mathias (OFM Cap) was the first parish priest.
