A Brief History:
The land in Shankergarh, on the way to Banda, was purchased in 2002 by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Isidore Fernandes. In the year 2003, Fr. Eric Pinto volunteered to work in the area staying in a rented room. During his stay there, he purchased another plot of land in Ward No. 8 where he put up a building for the school. Fr. Eric fell sick in 2006 after which he had not regained his health.
Fr. Thomas SSP took up the mission for a year 2007. However, Fr. Ambrose D’Souza succeeded him for a year in 2008-2009. In 2009, Fr. Albert Lobo was appointed the mission in charge. He opened a Computer institute for the village people.
Seeing to the need of extension of the School, Rev. Fr. Vincent Pereira, obtained permission from the Bishop and put up a huge building for the school which was inaugurated in 2017. The Congregation of the Samaritan Sisters agreed to collaborate in the mission. Initially, they were put up in the school building itself. Later, St. Joseph’s Convent construction was also completed under the able guidance of Rev. Fr. Vincent which was blessed and inaugurated by Most Rev. RaphyManjaly on 23 January, 2018.
