Fr Bruno D’Souza, in answer to the invitation by local people started the mission at Asind in 1988. Later on the Fathers of the Indian Missionary Society (IMS) were invited to continue the evangelization work in the mission. Initially they began the work in a rented house and later Fr Animanand and Fr Pritish were able to acquire some land close to the township in 1993. Today the mission has a spacious house built for the Fathers and another one for the Prabhudasi Sisters who are serving the mission. The mission today is blessed with a school and a dispensary.
