St. Mary’s Community Centre

The Syro-Malabar Catholic community in Badlapur has a very humble beginning in 1990. Fr. George Porathur celebrated the Syro-Malabar Malayalam Qurbana for the first time at Badlapur in 1990 at Mr. Thomas’ house in Manorama Building, Badlapur East, it continued for two years. From 1992 to 1993 the Holy Qurbana was celebrated at Carmel Convent School. Later in 1994, due to travel inconveniences for the faithful to reach Carmel school, the celebration of the Holy Qurbana, catechism and other Liturgical services were once again held in Mr. Kunnel Eapen Roy’s house. During these years Fr. Emmanuel Vaickamackal was taking care of the pastoral needs of this community. From 2002, Fr. Biju Mannamcheril took initiative to form and establish this parish community. He gathered this infant community for the liturgical celebrations at Mr. Joseph Karakatt’s house and this continued for three years. Meanwhile the community under the guidance of Fr. Biju Mannamcheril, was searching for a common place of gathering and worship. In 2005, the present place for gathering and worship at Manoram Building, Badlapur West, was bought in the name of St. Mary’s Catholic community, Badlapur and in 2006 the centre was blessed. Fr. Biju Mannamcheril got transferred in 2007 and Fr. Shiju Avanoor took charge as priest in charge. In 2009, Fr. Joseph Chalissery took charge of this growing community and served for three years. In June 2012, Fr. Joseph Chalissery was transferred and Fr. Tomy Mundankunnel CMF was appointed as the Priest-in charge. After which we had Rev. Fr. Jaison Karakunnel took the charge. At present Rev.
