Little Flower Church

The first Holy Qurbana for the Syro-Malabar Community of Chakala, was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jacob Porathur at The Holy Family Church in Sept. 1988. Over the years, when separate parishes of Mahakali, and Marol, were carved out of Chakala, the original parish was left with a very small geographical area and correspondingly a fewer families. Despite of these shortcomings, The Little Flower Parish has participated actively in all activities of the diocese. Since the opening of MCBS house in August 1991, all the important meetings of the parish and the zone are being conducted there. Catechism classes started in the year 1991 and there has been a tremendous response from the children of our parish. The Mathrusangham, formed on 3rd July 1990, has been serving the parish at various levels, especially among the women of our parish. With limited members, resources and funds we managed to purchase a flat 650 sq.ft. (Approx), in Dec 2004. This place is fully utilized for various spiritual and social activities by the parishioners. Little Flower Centre was elevated to the Canonical status of a Quasi- Parish on 5th April 2009. It was announced by Rev. Fr. Francis Eluvathingal, the Chancellor of the Eparchy of Kalyan. The Quaterly Parish Bulletin – ‘Ethal’ was first published in Oct 2009 under the guidance of Rev.Fr. Jerry Vallomkunnel, and several editions have been regularly published, since then. The Pithruvedi was inaugurated in our parish on 7th March 2010 and is active in all aspects. Presently, Fr. Fr. Abraham Koottakara MCBS is our Parish Priest.
