Fr. B.J. Pereira that bought the little plot in which the church is now situated. In 1952 Rev. Fr. B. J. Pereira built the present recreational hall where holy mass was said every Sunday evening. And from 1955 to 1958 Rev. Fr. Alfred Mendonca and Rev. Fr. Philip Neri Noronha offered the holy mass in the same recreational hall alternatively on Sundays. The history also says that Rev. Fr. B. J. Pereira had also opened a primary school in the same campus which had to be closed in 1955 for the reasons unknown. In 1965 St. Joseph convent was opened and from then onwards Sunday mass was celebrated there and also the masses on week days for the sisters. On Sunday December 1st 1968, Most. Rev. Bp. Raymond D’Mello blessed the foundation stone for the present church building and it was inaugurated by him on Monday 8th September 1969. Rev. Fr. Alfred Mendonca served as a first parish priest from 1968 to 1975 together with Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Mello. In 1975 Rev. Fr. John of the Cross took over as a parish Priest thereafter Rev. Fr. ShradhanandPrabhu,Rev. Fr. Antony Pinto and Rev. Fr. Kurian served the church faithfully. In 1981 Rev. Fr. Denis D’Souza who took over as a parish priest and in his time the Chakeri parish came to the live face of today. His work was enhanced by Rev. Fr. George D’Souza and Rev. Fr. Louis Mascarenhas. Rev. Fr. CajetanSaldanha Fr. Ambrose and Rev. Fr. Scaria.Rev. Fr. Noel D’Souza also rendered his valuable services to the development of this parish. Thereafter in 1993 Rev. Fr. Victor Rodrigues took over as a parish priest and was assisted by Rev. Fr. Gregory D’Souza, Rev. Fr. J.B. Crasta. In the year 2000 Rev. Fr. Apolin Lobo succeed as a parish priest to Rev. Fr. Victor Rodrigues and assisted by Rev. Fr. HeroldTauro, Rev. Fr. Titus Lobo and Rev. Fr. Sunil Mascarenhas. In 2007,Rev. Fr. John lobo was appointed as a parish priest and was assisted by Rev. Fr. Sunil Mascarenhas, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Kujur and presently Rev. Fr. G.P.Dantis.Presently, Rev. Fr. Eugene Mascarenhas, the parish priest and Rev. Vikas Jason Mathias are catering to the spiritual needs of the people.
