Church History
Garhdeulia received Faith in the year 1977 with the active role played by Catechist Vimol Giri. Since then, it was looked after from Baghmara as its Sub-station, until the Church and Presbytery was built and blessed on 1st January 1986. On the same day, the Sneha Sadan Convent too was blessed and inaugurated for the SABS Sisters. Later, during the same year on 5th May 1986, the Sneha Sadan Health Centre was blessed and inaugurated for the General Public.
Fr. Sebastain Pallikunnel was appointed first resident priest of Garhdeulia on 12th August 1986, but after a stay of 2 months he left Garhdeulia for Kerala on 22nd October 1986. In the same year Sneha Sadan Aspirantate was satrted for the adoration candidates of Jagadalpur Province. On 1st December 1986, Fr. Daniel Kishore was appointed Parish Priest. But again after 2 months he was transferred elsewhere on 29th January 1987, leaving Gardeulia to be looked after from Balasore until 5th September 1987 when Fr. Daniel Murmu was assigned Parish Priest. In August 1988, he was transferred to Sarat. Once again Garhdeulia went to be looked after from Balasore until 16th August 1989, when Fr. George Mattathilany was appointed Parish Priest. Hardly one year after, on 23rd June 1990, he was transferred to Joda, leaving Gardeulia again to be served from Balasore until 4th September 1993, when Fr. Gerald Gomes was appointed Parish Priest. Fr. Balthazar replaced Fr. Gerald Gomes as the Parish Priest. When Fr. Balthazar was transferred Fr. Antony took charge of the Parish and when Fr. Antony had to be moved out to Joda it was entrusted to the Care of Fr. Chako V.L the then Director of Utkal Vani to take care of the pastoral needs of the parish. After a short interval Fr. Cyprian Lakra was assigned to be the parish Prisest. Fr. Biju Served as the Parish Priest from June 2003 to May 2004. Now Fr. Sibi Karimkuttikulam continues to the Parish Priest from June 2004.
