Three religious sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny opened a community in the year 1993at Gurugunta to carry out social developmentworks for the marginalized and a hostel for rural girls. The diocese purchased 13.5 acres of land in 2010. Fr. Sunder Raj was appointed as the Mission in-charge in 2011. For some time he resided at Hutti and served the new mission. Later he moved to Gurgunta and as a pioneer, he built the Mount Carmel School and the new presbytery which was blessed by Bishop Henry D'Souza on 8 December 2015. A sister from the local Cluny Convent is serving in the school as Headmistress. The new school building financed by Manos Unidas, started by Fr. Sunder Raj was completed by Fr. Yagappa and was blessed by Bishop Henry D'Souza on 14 Aug. 2017. The new mission is making considerable progress.
