A Brief History
This quasi town is about 70 Km from Sultanpur on the SultanpurLucknow highway. This area came into prominence as being close to a V.I.P. constituency-Amethi. To help this backward area Amethi many projects like BHEL, HAL, IndoGulf and Malvika Steel were started.
Naturally people flocked from other areas. On account of numerous representations, priests from Sultanpur started visiting this area on Sundays to offer Holy Mass for the Catholics. Fr. Eric Pinto was transferred in June 1994 to Sultanpur. He too visited Jagdishpur and with Bishop’s consent began to look for a place adjacent to Indo-Gulf industrial area. On request from local people Fr. Eric Pinto secured a plot of 10 acres. Within a short time a priest’s house and seven class rooms were built. Thus Christ the King Church and School came into existence in July 1996. In 1995 Fr. Eric Pinto invited the Daughters of St. Francis of Dillingen (OSF) sisters and they dedicate their service in the education and health ministry. However they closed down the dispensary later.
