Bonaventure Davis, ofm, parish priest of Kowtal made contacts in Jawalgera and surrounding villages through a catechist. Fr. Fintan McDonough ofm rented a house in the bazaar and took up residence as parish priestin 1947. He was succeeded by Fr. Owen McLaughlinofm, who began a small dispensary, which was enlarged by Fr. Louis Madden ofm. In 1949, Fr. Bonaventure Davis, ofm purchased a plot of land, on which a hut was built for Mass. Fr. Fintan McDonough, ofm built a chapel and the presbytery in 1951. The Sisters of St. Anne of Providence came and lived in a rented house in the bazaar, until the convent was built in 1955. Since then, presbytery, convent and the church have been extended and a school and orphanage also have been built.Fr.Joachim ofm Memorial School was started in 2015 and the building supported by the Trustees of OFM Glasgow was blessed by Bishop Henry D'Souza on 27 Aug. 2017. It is named after late Fr. Joachim Tinnany ofm, who was a great missionary and pastor.
