St. Antony’s Church
Church History
Catholics from various villages got settled at the coast of Kulasekaranpatnam and the parish priests of Udangudi were taking care of the spiritual needs of the people. Rev. Fr. Stephen Gomez, the parish priest of Udangudi (1986-1987) put up a thatched Church dedicated to St. Antony. When Rev. Fr. Antony Jegatheesan was the parish priest of Udangudi (1993 -1994) he built the Church at Paduvai Nagar, which was blessed by Bishop S.T. Amalnather. Paduvai Nagar became a separate parish on 1st June 2002 in the time of Bishop Peter Fernando and Rev. Fr. M.G. Victor was appointed as the first parish priest, who built the presbytery and it was blessed by Bishop Peter Fernando in 2003. After the Tsunami in 2004, the people were shifted to Kallamozhi where Caritas Italiana built houses for the people.
