St. Paul's Church

Fr. Mangal Das SJ on his journey from Kalna pitched his tent at Sukurdanga and taught the people to cultivate vegetables while, at the same time, sowed the seeds of the Kingdom of God. Later Frs. Fredreick D' Souza, Cyprian Monis, Cyprian Pinto, Tony Lobo, I. P. Sarto, and Valerian Fernandes and other priests from Sacred Heart, Burdwan, with the help of Mr. Mangal Soren, Mr. Bablu Murmu and other catechists, took initiatives in deepening the faith of the people there; the area was part of the Holy Family Church, Nuta. In 2006 the Holy Family Parish, Nuta was divided thus, creating Bonpas- Kamarpada mission with Fr. Henry Rodrigues as the first priest- in- charge. Land was bought in 2002 in view of establishing a Mission centre there. Fr. Henry constructed a community center and priests' residence in 2012. As the number of Catholics grew Fr. Avinash Kumar with the help of Bhalobasa Aid Italy further extended the community center in 2016. Category: DIOCESAN Catholic: 600
