It is known for its rich vegetation and the historical temple. Its rich soil and irrigation facilities attracted many settlers from outside who have established a number of residential camps in and around Kurugodu. As a part of the ongoing mission of the diocese a new mission station was inaugurated by Bishop Joseph D'Silva on 19th July 2004 in this predominant Hindu area. Fr. Augustine P.R. started the new mission and during his term of office, the present presbytery was built and it was blessed by Archbishop Bernard Moras, the Apostolic Administrator in 2007. Fr.Augustine P.R. also started construction of the new church. It was dedicated by Bishop Henry D'Souza on 21 Jan. 2011, when Fr. Albert D'Silva was the parish priest.Sacred Heart Sisters came to the parish in 2005 and have started a school.
