Sahaya Madha Church
Church History
The Parish of Sahaya Madha Church in Medavakkam was bifurcated on 30th May 2004 from the Parish of Selaiyur. Thanks to the efforts of the visionary Fr. Cyriac Illmootil the then parish priest who intercedes from Heaven purchased a piece of land in the year 1992 and built a thatched hut church. Fr. Alexis Manohar the first Parish Priest of Medavakkam parish, built a small chapel and the rectory which includes parish priest office. Due to scarcity of place and the fast-growing catholic population in the locality, the second Parish priest Fr. L. John Benjamin constructed a grandeur new church with all required amenities along with ample car parking area at the ground floor.
The church was consecrated and blessed on 15.06.2016 by Most Rev. Dr A. Neethinathan, Bishop of Chingleput.
