A Brief History
This was a part of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Allahabad till June 1995; but it has been made a separate unit with Rev. Fr. AvelineD’Silva as Priest In charge. The Residence of the priest was called “JyotiNivas” adjacent to the ShishuBhavan. Initially, the Mass was being offered in the Chapel of the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity. Later in 2003, considering the growing number of Catholics, a new Church was built in a lane opposite the St. Peter’s Church CNI, which is named as St. Mary’s Church. CSN Sisters and MC sisters assist the parish priest in his pastoral, spiritual, social and all other activities of the Parish with regular visit to the parishioners. St. Mary’s Nursery School is run on the first floor of the Church.
