Established : 1954 Patron : Mary, Queen of the Apostles Address : Queen of the Apostles’ Church, 28-B Chatham Lines, Ranipur, Allahabad – 211 002 Telephone : 0532 - 2544606 Religious : Society of Jesus (SJ), Society of St. Paul (SSP) A Brief History On July 2, 1924 Franciscan Missionary Brothers came to Allahabad and took residence amidst several villages near Chatham Lines. This place was and is called Bhagara. After some time the mission was closed and only a catechist was sent there to give medicines under Parish Priest of Allahabad. In January 1932 Bishop A. Poli sent Rev. Fr. Pascal Sinha who was teaching in the Seminary, to this place. He was the first resident Priest of the place. A chapel was built in 1931 and the place was called Fidelispur. Fr. Sinha was replaced by Rev.Fr. Leonard Pereira in 1933. Villages were visited and medicines were given and a small school was opened. Fr. Pereira opened an IndustrialSchool. In1938 on the transfer of Rev. Fr. C. Mascarenhas this place became a visiting station. In the year 1939 the late Rev. Fr. Alphonso Ferrero, SSP opened the first house of Society of St Paul I this place. After the internment of Fr. Ferrero this place became a visiting station for the second time for the Fathers from St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Allahabad. In 1952, St. Paul’s press was established and also the new residence was built. Later on, in the year 1954 a Church was built under the patronage of Mary, Queen of the Apostles and the name of Fidelispur was changed into Ranipur.
